Invitation design for the annual European Exchange Academy final exhibition talking place in Beelitz, Germany. The title is set in overlapping transparent strokes, creating darker ‘crossing points’ on the places they intersect. These crossing points write the words ‘crossing points’ again. Designed for mailings but because of their modular design, also suitable for covering larger spaces of wall creating endless patterns of crossing points.

Logo and business cards for an Amsterdam based printed promotion distribution company. All elements are based on the A-ratio that flyers or posters have. The three crosses in the mark refer to the Amsterdam coat of arms as well as the changing images they distribute. The right corner of the card has been cut of so they actually hand over a piece of their logo.

Wall painting at Kunstvlaai|A.P.I.08. A collaboration with my friend and talented painter Timo Vaittinen, who painted all the characters. I designed the typography on the spot using a simple square grid system. This approach resulted in a spontaneous blend of our two totally different disciplines and views on design.

Kanaleneiland

Kanaleneiland is a neighborhood in the south-west of Utrecht. It was built during the sixties being a part
of of a big city expansion project. Nowadays the neighborhood is being regarded as an impoverished area.
76% of its inhabitants are non-Dutch, and the crime rate is high.  I used to live there for four years and I
never had a bad experience. During that time I noticed national media were being more negative about the
neighborhood then then I experienced it myself.

No typeface

This typeface installation was being exhibited at the ‘Rietveld in de Kerk’ show in the Oude Kerk, Amsterdam. The typewriters ‘faces’ are manipulated in such a way that the author distorts or censors his own message while typing. The following person should be able to translate the message by comparing the two proofs. It illustrates the passing on of information through time.

841 × 1189mm x 2 and multiple A4 sheets being typed on after the exhibition.
